A Citibank Student loan account was reporting incorrectly on our client Monica’s credit report. As you will see from the image below, the account was riddled with inaccurate late payments. These late payments and the trade line itself were severely impacting Monica’s credit scores. She has consolidated her student loans and has remained current on them since that time, but Citibank was continuing to report the inaccurate trade line below. The “I4” status this account was showing factored into the credit scoring mechanism as if Monica was ninety-days past due on the account, and that was not the case. After disputing this tradeline with Experian, TransUnion and Equifax for Monica the results of the initial investigation came back as “verified”. It was obvious that a thorough investigation was not performed. Therefore, we addressed the Citibank Student loan center directly via certified mail on Monica’s behalf and demanded verification of this trade line and/or requested them to remove the account in it’s entirety from her credit file. On July 9, 2014 they sent the following response to Monica confirming the full deletion of this account from all three credit-reporting agencies.
