A CenterPoint Energy collection account, which was paid in December 2013, was continuing to have a negative impact on our client John’s credit report. We initially disputed this account with each of the three credit-reporting agencies TransUnion, Experian and Equifax on July 9, 2014. The results from that investigation request came back as verified with all three credit bureaus. Here is a snapshot of how this account was viewed on the original credit report.
At this point, most consumers would waive the white flag, surrender, and would continue to have this CenterPoint Energy collection account remain on their credit reports, thus continuing to negatively affect their credit rating. However, with our extensive knowledge of all state and federal laws when it comes to original creditor, collection companies and their legal obligation towards consumers, we knew better and sent a validation request directly to CenterPoint Energy’s dispute address of PO Box 1700, Houston, TX 77251 via US Certified Mail.
After confirmation of receiving the request sent by us, on John’s behalf, they mailed John the following response confirming the full deletion of the trade line from all three credit-reporting agencies.
